Maschinemasters.com review Midnight sample pack

Greetings Earthlings. Woods here, back with another review to keep you humanoids in touch with what’s hot and what’s not in the realm of sounds for all of your hip-hop production needs. With that out of the way, lets dig right in!

If you are sample based producer you might find at times that digging for samples can be frustrating, especially if you’re not really feeling your digs. If this is the case for you, then let me introduce you to the sounds of Rawcutz. They have many sample libraries, all of which have that organic, dusty, just sampled from vinyl feel to them. Today I’m taking a look at the ‘Midnight’ sample pack.

The sounds in this pack are inspired by the golden era of hip hop but could also be put to use in a variety of other genres. This pack offers a total of 168, 24 bit, quality sounds split into folders consisting of, 91 raw sounds and chops, 30 kicks, 19 snares and 8 high hat samples. This pack also offers 10 Rex Loops and 10 breaks for your chopping pleasure. The raw sounds folder is a gumbo pot of soulful, jazzy and chilled instrument chops with some bass notes and atmospheric fx. The drums sound great and have a nice knock to them, with thumping kicks and snares that have got that snap to them, all sounding like they have been sampled through vintage samplers.

Everything in this pack sounds great and has a real authentic sampled vibe, making it easy to throw some sounds into your chosen DAW/Sampler and start creating organic sounding golden era style beats in minutes. All the samples have been processed with eq’s, reverbs and delays minimising the amount of time spent processing each sample and increasing your work flow. Every sample in this pack is original and royalty free, meaning you can use them wherever and whenever you like without the worry of sample clearance. With 100mb of sounds and a price tag off $16.00, this pack is definitely worth checking out, even if it’s only to find some inspiration.

Being a fan of old dusty sounding records and sampling, I love packs like this. I may never make a beat using only the sounds found in this pack but I do however find myself using them within my other productions. Whether it is the drums, bass sounds or even just a sample or two used to complement my beats, I find this and other Rawcutz kits really useful to have because as a sampled based producer, you can never have too many sounds at your disposal in my opinion. But like I always say, don’t just take my word for it, head over to www.loopmasters.com and see for yourself.

Until next time, this is Woods saying peace.
